Amane Takaishi is excited to return to Tony Williams Dance Center this fall. Her joy is to see the dancers she teaches develop their skills as artists over the years. This year, she will teach Saturday Beginning Ballet I and Boston City Youth Ballet (BCYB) program.

Amane’s approach to teaching ballet is to build a strong foundation of technique, engage students to explore their unique artistry, and inspire a lifelong love for dance. This philosophy is rooted in her experience with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), one of the world’s most influential dance education organizations. She is a registered teacher of the RAD, and was awarded the title of Associate by the academy in 2023. Amane is also certified to teach Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT) and Pilates (Balanced Body). Additionally, she holds MA in Education (Dance Teaching) from the University of Bath, UK and BA with honors in Professional Dance and Performing Studies from the University of Kent, UK.

Besides her teaching career, Amane dances with the City Ballet of Boston (CBB), directed by Tony Williams. She has danced leading parts in the Urban Nutcracker, such as Snow Queen, Mrs. Mallard, and Rox Riff. She is also an artist with the Asian American Ballet Project, founded by Elizabeth Mochizuki. In the Boston area, she also danced in productions with Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, choreographed by Gianni Di Marco, Untied Dance, directed by Boris Richir, and DanceVisions, Inc., directed by Margot Parsons. Previously, she danced with Eugene Ballet Company in Oregon, Ballet Tucson in Arizona, and A&A Ballet in Chicago. Her repertoire includes soloist roles such as Violent Fairy and Jewels from Sleeping Beauty, Autumn Fairy from Cinderella, variations from Paquita and La Bayadere, as well as corps de ballet works including George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Carmina Burana, and Great Gatsby

Before entering the professional world of ballet, Amane trained in the UK. She studied ballet at the Elmhurst School of Ballet in association with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, followed by the Central School of Ballet. Amane extended her training through summer intensives at the Royal Ballet School, the English National Ballet School in London, UK, and the International Masterclass in Prague, Czech Republic. Although she is primarily trained in British style, her early training included Russian style while living in Tokyo, Japan, where she first started ballet with her teacher, Mitsuyo Kishibe.
